Winter in Miami means mild temperatures and a more idle city, creating the perfect environment for exploration. To help you celebrate the end of the semester, IDENTITY Miami has put together a list of fun local winter activities. Time to kick-start your winter break!
Hit the Beach
Winter has its perks and one of the biggest is the relative lack of crowds. Now is the best time to experience the city’s iconic beach scene. Head out to Biscayne Bay and take advantage of all the extra space. We recommend planning a visit to Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park for its picturesque views of the Atlantic and beautiful sunsets over the bay.
Catch a Free Movie
There’s something magical about movies in the park. The Cinema Series at SoundScape Park is a series of free weekly movies in Miami, held each Wednesday, beginning at 8 PM. The films are projected onto a massive 7,000-square-foot wall of the New World Center concert hall. Bring a blanket and some snacks, kick back, and relax on the lawn. Upcoming movies include How the Grinch Stole Christmas (Dec. 22) and The Outsiders (Dec. 29).
Explore the Everglades
Not only are there fewer people during the winter, there are also fewer bugs, making it the best time to trek Everglades National Park. The 1.5 million acres of sawgrass marshes, coastal mangroves, and pine flatwoods are home to hundreds of animal species, offering nature lovers lots to appreciate. Whether you want to bike the Shark Valley Trail, take a ranger-guided canoe tour, or hike Anhinga Trail and spot all the wildlife, you’re sure to find your bliss at the Everglades.
Thanks to our ideal location, IDENTITY Miami puts you close to it all! We hope you have a great winter break and holiday season.
